Well the pinups shirts all finally shipped. In the meantime my exactness to detail drove the printer insane. I actually pulled the last dozen myself. Consistency is my thing. The threads shirt was all me, the 3 color job took a lot of work to get right and was very expensive to make. The artwork for sized XL & XXL are 28.5" long diagonally. The large size demanded it's own films and it's own specialty board made. Overall the they are good. However there is going to be another run, different colors, different art with fish net stalkings.

A total pain and very expensive but pretty neat.

Thanks to those that bought them and waited patiently.

And remember the first time you wash your shirt, always turn it inside out and wash warm tumble dry low for the first few times to break in the image and not crack it.

It's 44 degrees lets paint some boards!

The weather has been less then cooperative as a cold front moves in. Where XXX is located is at the edge of a high desert. You wouldn't know it by all the urban sprawl but it is. It's impossible to heat the shop area efficiently. So I've had to work in spurts till my knuckles freeze up and wont move. Painting is on hiatus until we weather strip the shop and build a heated partition.

On a disparaging note 5% of the skull prints where lost in the mail or came back ate by some sort of machine at the post office. Replacements are going out this Friday.

On the good side, all orders went out except the last batch of pinups. The pinups are now deceased(pun intended) in there alpha and betas are now out of print.

Removing the hight points

The below picture is an example that even after you hand select ever surface ply excluding any inconsistent wood patterns and pick desirable grains to be pressed. However even after each top and bottom ply go through an industrial sanding machine that there is difference in how the tighter grain takes pressure then the light grain.

Boards are sorted into two groups. Riders and hangers. I'm very critical about this process. Then boards are broken down twice again. Stains and paints. A finger tip examination is concluded. If a board has slightest of inconstancy that you'd never see but I can feel with my fingertips, the board is rejected and will get painted. Then the paint boars are broke down into two groups from there; boards to be painted light or dark.

All this is done after each top and bottom ply is hand selected, sanded 3 times in an industrial sanding machine and expertly sandwich for pressing.

Paint boards are silver base coated then sanded till almost all the paint is gone. Remaining pain is in the low points. Once again this difference is 1/4 the thickness of a human hair. But I can feel it and that makes all the difference.

I'm the factory: updates and whatnot

Over the last 7 weeks I've been some slow downs in production and delivery dates due to shop issues. There is often only me doing it all. From raw blob to fine created board out the door. Right now while I'm having some discomfort production is slowed and some shipping commitments have exceeded there dates. That is being corrected.

Understand if I sell a board that once inspected for shipping has a shelf mark and or scuff, there is no touching it up. Due to the lengthy, detailed process of automotive type finishings, paint, silkscreening and airbrushing that a board has to be redone. I often remake boards that sold at $75 to make sure you get a $150 paint job.



Shirts: We've branched out into shirts since you cannot wear a deck around your neck because people would fling bottles at you. At first we brought the shirts production in house but I've only so much time. It took a month nearly of disappointment till I found a printer that can meet my expectations on quality. All shirts have shipped currently


Nude Pinup unfortunately behind schedule. This is due to me being a detail freak and wanting it to be right. I expect a shipping date of 11/23 or before.

The shirts are as well very low production runs. Please note that once they are gone, I wont be making more. This is because I've other designs ready for there spot in the sun.

Skull print: Some remain

Limited edition silkscreen print. The total size is 15.75" tall and 6.38" wide/Silkscreen black archival ink on non acid Stratmore Bristol board 440. A bit of overkill but I hate when paper gets creased.

I guarantee this print will be nearly as fine as a digitial geclee print and that it will be razor crisp.

Numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,23 & 30 are sold

Ideas and whatnot.

These production mock ups didn't make it past my scrutiny because of two reasons. Production error in the blanks and unprecedented communications errors with my wood guy. The board delivered was not the mold I made. The ride was compromised and thus the Backlight mock up art became reality on another shape and size. Evolution through necessity. The board will have it's day next spring with new art. However the ride I'm looking for has to translate to the wood and to you the rider. Otherwise there is no stoke and what would be the point. I make good rides, the art is to assure you of that.

I'd like to believe I have integrity and commitment to quality. Otherwise I'd just make tongue depressors with crayon scrawling.

Then again I hear some guys doing that and making a mint. This is skateboarding, not a get rich quick scheme.

Rebuilding the main site

I'm in the process of redesigning the main site. So thus welcome to blog land.

Twice a year I redesign the XXX site to host the new boards for that season. We have two seasons, summer/fall and winter/spring. Twice a year I design new shapes, invest in new concave molds and announce releases of new boards. The art, the making of many of the boards is done solely by myself. All the art you will see in limited edition boards has to be created, finalized and mechanically separated. Often enough tens of hours goes into a graphic that will only if ever be on 50 boards where as 30 hours of art time will go into a board that will only have 20 made. Often enough it's a balance of time, talent, production and a balancing the time.
